Name the real number
Vague goals like save more never end, because there is nothing to arrive at. Pick a figure and an item or experience it buys. A number with a purpose is far easier to protect when something else wants the money.
Divide by months, not by willpower
Take the total, divide by the months you are willing to wait, and that is your monthly contribution. If the monthly figure makes you flinch, extend the deadline rather than pretending you will find the money by being more disciplined.
Shade the tracker
Colour in one box per contribution. This is the whole trick. Progress you can see in a glance does more for consistency than any interest rate, and it is the reason a paper or planner tracker often beats a banking app you rarely open.
Mark the halfway point
Halfway is where motivation dips, because the early novelty is gone and the finish is not yet visible. Plan something small at fifty percent — a meal out, a day off — so the middle has a reward too.
