Plan three dinners, not seven
Cooking for one person seven fresh dinners a week is a job. Plan three, and let leftovers and one easy night cover the rest. The plan gets followed far more often when it is not pretending you have unlimited evenings.
Buy smaller, more often
Larger packs are only cheaper if you finish them. For a single household, a midweek top-up shop almost always wastes less than a big monthly one.
Freeze half immediately
The moment a meal is cooked, portion half and freeze it. Left in the fridge, it becomes something you feel guilty about on Thursday. Frozen, it is next week solved.
Keep one deliberate easy night
Give yourself a planned night off: freezer meal, toast, or takeaway. Planning the easy night stops the unplanned one from turning into three.
